That’s up to you!
You see the awesome thing about the right tools and artificial intelligence is that it will remember what you tell it and start doing it for you automatically when you’re not looking. The bad things about artificial intelligence is that it will remember what you tell it and start doing it for you automatically when you’re not looking – even if it’s WRONG! ALERT - Artificial Intelligence doesn't know the difference between right and wrong!
That’s because artificial intelligence is not that smart. My friend Kerri and I have renamed it – DWIA (sounds like an airport code almost) or Dim-Witted Artificial Intelligence. You see, in order for your tools and technology to work for you, you have to give it the right information and that means you must have the right knowledge. Now you are not going to get a degree in accounting or bookkeeping (another 4 letter or word) so don’t freak out and stay with me.
For example – We know that our Customers pay Invoices.
What do you pay? Invoices? I have worked in many establishments that have a clipboard or inbox that says Invoices. Theses are the things our VENDORS send us. Even though they say "Invoice" at the top of them (hence the clipboard/inbox label), they are actually your BILLS.
Once you get the Invoice/Bill thing straight, there a few more tidbits of information you need to make sure you know. You need to answer the Ws.
The easy ones first…
Where = where the money came from or where it went (sometimes when it ends up in your checking account it actually went somewhere else in the actual first movement – but that topic is for another day)
What For = This one gets complicated.
